Americans All Over the Country were Participating in the March on Washington

As a government official, you see that Washington D.C was not the only place in America that the March on Washington was happening. This movement was taking place all over the country. The Savannah Freedom Now Movement took place in Savannah, Georgia at the same time the March on Washington was taking place. Individuals from all across the country protested in their states so that their voices could be heard, and they could gain equality with their peers. Although this protest in Savannah was peaceful, the protestors received an abundance of lashing back. The protesters were attacked with racial slurs, and verbal abuse of every kind, as well as some individuals sustaining physical abuse. This was no coincidence, as Georgia is a southern state, and the south had never been very welcome to the idea of racial equality. The illegality of segregation still lived fresh in many Georgia residence minds, and while the protestors were happy to no longer have segregation, others were not as content with the newly founded law. Despite the backlash the Savannah activists moved forward and continued their protests to stand by the side of Martin Luther King Jr. This was something that could be changed by you. As a government official you can help the individuals in need seeking rights! Will you contact Martin Luther King for help, or go straight to the president?
